Lumpia From The Philippines

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • ½ cup finely diced onion
  • ½ cup diced carrot
  • ½ cup chopped green onion
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 30 Spring roll wrappers or egg roll wrappers
  • Oil for frying the lumpia

Preparation:

  1. In a skillet over medium high heat, add the ground pork, onions and carrots in the skillet.
  2. When the pork is cooked, lower the heat and stir in the minced garlic, salt and pepper, soy sauce, green onions and cabbage.
  3. Saute for 5 more minutes
  4. When done, let the filling cool slightly
  5. Lay the wrappers out on the counter in front of you
  6. Place a small spoonful of the filling in a line towards the edge of the wrapper, lengthwise
  7. Fold the edges of the wrapper in and carefully roll the remainder of the wrapper
  8. Use a small amount of water to seal the edges of the lumpia.
  9. Heat 3 to 4 inches of Oil in a deep side skillet and carefully add 5 lumpias at a time
  10. Cook until golden brown
  11. Remove from the oil and drain on a paper towel.
  12. Continue until all the lumpia are rolled and fried.
