The Oklahoma Fried Onion Burger is a delicious snack that you can enjoy as a treat at home or serve at parties as a side dish. This recipe is very easy to prepare and you will not need to travel to the ends of the earth to get the ingredients.

I love those recipes we all grew up with, they are just too good to pass up.

Ingredients:

° Canola or vegetable oil, enough to lubricate the crankcase

° 1 pound burger

1-2 sweet onions, sliced very thin (about 1/3 of an onion per burger, or to taste)

° salt

° Coarsely ground black pepper

°3 to 6 slices of American cheese

°3 to 6 hamburger buns, steamed or grilled

+ Extras may include:

° Lettuce (whole leaves, chopped or shredded), sliced tomato, sliced sweet or dill pickle, mayonnaise, ketchup, a1. steak sauce, mustard, relish, pepperoncini pepper rings, or whatever you like!

Preparation:

Get the grill pan really hot. An oil grill is where the burgers go. Place a ball of meat (1/3 pound or 1/6 pound for thinner burgers/see note) on the hot grill and mash it lightly with a sharp spoon.

Top with a small handful of onions, sliced very thinly, mash the burger to the very end, and pour the onions with the meat.

Season the top with salt and pepper and cook. Don’t mess with that.

When the bottom is dark brown and the burger is about done, scrape it under the burger to get the “crust” and flip it.

Continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes. Cover with cheese and melt for another 1-2 minutes. * While the cheese is melting, you can place and slice the donuts on the grill to toast.

Place the burger on the bottom of the bun, top it any way you like it, place it on the top bun, and dig it in!

Enjoy!
